New Records
Just got a package in the mail from Twist Records... The first record is
one that is totally essential: The Solar Flares. Their album on Twist got
good reviews all round earlier in the year, but this is even better! It's
on vinyl and CD but the CD has an extra track... Don't need to talk too
much about this one cos you all KNOW it's fantastic!
Also, there's a single by a Dutch group called The Paranoiacs, recorded way
back in '86 but never released. Okay so three of the four tracks are covers
and well-known ones at that...but this is a quality record. Their own
composition "I Know A Boy" makes it worth getting alone. It's a sorta
'64/'65 sounding American frat-pop type thing I guess. Definitely worth
ordering.
Third new single is by an English group that's totally new to me. Dunno who
they are but I reckon I'll be finding out more soon. The Snydes are more
into the American style of 60s sounds and do two original songs, "Snydes
Glyde" and "Big Enough for Two" plus a decent cover of "You're Gonna Miss
Me" and an English translation of Dutronc's "Le Responsable". Singer's got
a pretty good voice. Who are these guys? I'm gonna find out!
Twist sells it's own stuff at pretty good prices (free postage on all
orders) so email twist@cionlne.com to get a full catalogue and costs.
