All sorts of people collect various things. If one has the money and wants to
spend 2 grand on a disc, then let 'em. I know I am guilty for spending loads
on discs although 2 thousand is about 20 times over my budget. I do know some
people who are well off and can afford flinging their dough at such items but
I wouldn't call them retards. They simply have tons of money and don't have a
problem paying loads to satisfy some hole in their collection.
Why they go after the original and not a bootleg is simply because the boot
isn't collectible. They look at the disc as a collectible piece in addition
to diggin' the music. Although there are some collectors that could care less
about the music and just collect as an investment.
If you look at collectors in Europe, they will almost always want a
record with the PSleeve if the record was released with one. Another key
factor is making sure the 45 has the original center. This all goes to
collectibility and value of the record. Why the value goes up on certain
records is all what one is willing to pay and how difficult it is to find.
So why would someone sell a record and ask 2K for it? Because someone
is willing to pay it. Supply and demand.
As for the Keggs, it is an amazing disc and if I were a millionaire and
loaded with cash and could afford throwing thousands of dollars away on
discs, I probably would too. Mind you, I'd have to swimming in loot.
