my introduction to garage music?

I guess I would be old enough to have actually been aware of 60's Garage at
the time it happened, had I lived in the place where it happened.... But I
live in the Netherlands! So it took me a few years to find out about
heaven. And even then I didn't know: All my life I've been into loud music,
yet mostly Hard Rock/Heavy Metal. So at first my fave record shop was a
place where Metal was the salesman's first choice. As I was never shy of
any "other" genres, I soon stepped into their second shop, where a (70's)
Punk/Wave fan worked, thus making me divide attention (and cash). In the
early 80's a Swedish band came along, playing with great energy and they
were supported by both shops! They were of course the Nomads and I was
completely sold by how they were "Not like everybody else", "Five years
ahead of their time" and going to "Bangkok". Still I had no idea: my
knowledge of American 60's Alt Rock went as far as the Doors, the Stooges,
MC5 and the Velvets...
Again a few years later I switched record shops again, wanting to broaden
my views (and collection) with more traditional American genres like Blues.
So I endulged (and almost drowned) myself in hundreds of Blues(related)
platters. Then Jeroen (Chiswick, as always) came to work at that shop and
he introduced me to a totally new concept: Sixties Punk. And bless him for
that!! I was finally able to "place" the Nomads! And find out about the
originals.... I started off with Psychedelic Microdots, Acid Dreams, Acid
Visions and Pebbles (by that time all on cd). Since then I bought hundreds
of samplers, filled with what has become one of my fave genres: Sixties
Punk/Garage Rock.
And whether we will/should have a retro-retro scene? Yes, please!! As long
as new bands come up, playing hard, instead of
Joel/Bolton/Spears/ELO/MTV....
Oh, picked up yesterday: The Cicadelic 60's (volume two) Never existed! On
first hearing quite good (nice covers of "Sometimes good guys don't wear
white" by the Persian Market (slow!!), "Drive my car" by the Neurotic Sheep
(what a great name for a band!!) and "Respect" by the Caparrals). 17 others
including tracks by the Basement Wall, the Lemon Fog, the Lynx, etc.. And
hardly any doublures with other samplers (in my collection, that is.....).
Also picked up: the new Nashville Pussy, which is just what I expected:
loud & nasty. Biggest bug about that cd: why the FUCK does a band allow a
record comp to include that silly (initially) sticker (parental advisory...
hahaha, even Billy Joel gets 'em these days!!) in the print of the
cover.....?? FUCKIN' HELL!!! I wanna be able to peel that GODDAMN sticker
off and burn it. Thank God this mail can't be censored by those assholes!!

my nickel,
