Solarflares/more Bristols info

They are a trio composed of Graham Day - vcl/gtr; Allan Crockford -
bass/vcl; Simon Howard-dms. All are from the River Medway towns in Kent,
which of course has spawned a fertile musical scene since the days of the
Pop Rivets in the early 80s. Graham and Allan played in totally seminal 80s
garage outfit The Prisoners (still one of my fave live bands ever) and
Graham also played drums in one lineup of the Mighty Caesars. The
Solarflares started in mid-98 or so. Their sound is punchy garagey/mod style
guitar tunes with great hooklines and soulful vocals (with more than a
little nod to the Small Faces). Live, they can be GREAT on a good night
(albeit IMO humorless) and their album (on Twist) is also essential! A
second LP will be out in the
autumn.

There is a semi-official Solarflares web site at
http://www.medwaymagic.org.uk Nothing to do with me BTW.

Next, Maureen asked where she can find the Bristols LP - it's on Damaged
Goods, who don't have great distribution but who do mail-order at
http://www.damagedgoods.co.uk They don't seem to have updated the
discography to include it so I suggest you try emailing them. Otherwise mail
me off-list, maybe I can find U a copy here in London.
